Daily Prompt: Chaotic

Thank goodness it is Friday. It wasn’t chaos, this week, it was too organised to call it that. I always knew it was going to be busy, just not how much it would take out of me.

My favourite thing about Fridays is that I get to pick my daughter up from kindergarten, nice and early. We get home by 12.30 and have our traditional cwtch. That is a cuddle, for the non-Welsh out there.

I love that time, even if it is only for ten minutes. It is just the two of us and we get to have a little catch-up on what has been happening that day. And today she even gave me a little Czech lesson, testing me on which words I new.

So that is the line, that is where, what feels like, chaos ends and the weekend begins.

Top of the Tower – Elected: A short story

Well it actually happened. I only really started thinking I had a chance with a couple of weeks to go. But, in the end, even the FBI came to the rescue. People really don’t like her. My scandals seemed to be ignored. Of course, I have some powerful allies; but still no one seemed to want to dig too deep.

And now, here I am. Now what? The enormity of it all still hasn’t really hit me. The most powerful man in the world, me? I told everyone that there would be changes, and there will, but I need professionals around me. I’ve dealt with politicians my whole life, but now I will be on the other side. I will even have to bury some hatchets; only figuratively, of course.

The wife is already complaining. She doesn’t want to move and live there. But I can’t do the job remotely, can I? They wouldn’t let me get away with that, surely? We’ll see. It’s not a bad house, I suppose.

I have to admit that I have a slight sense of panic, at times. This isn’t a land deal, or a construction project. And some of my supporters are scary, but that is who got me here. But when I see them with one arm raised, even I am disquieted by that image. For now, I hope they stay under the radar. Then in the future, I won’t need them and I can widen my appeal.

I plan on doing this job well, and don’t wish to be remembered as a joke. It has happened before, of course. Thirty-six years ago, people were not sure of another man. And now he is held up as the perfect leader, by many in the party. One day, maybe they will say the same about me.

We will be great again. And I will be the most winning leader ever.

Christmas Markets

This Sunday was spent at a traditional Christmas market in a small village near where I live in the Czech Republic. This village, called Kuks, is famous for its historical buildings, and the market was located at the bottom of the gardens that belong to this chateau. But it is more than a chateau, it also has a building which was used as a hospital, although you would have to see it to believe it. The old hospital building is a beautiful piece of architecture and is fronted by some stunning statues.

The market was a typical affair, lots of craft items to buy. As well as mulled wine to drink, and lots of food to eat. The typical market food in this country is not exactly healthy, but warming on a cold winter’s day. Hot potato pancakes, grilled sausages, freshly cooked hot pastries. You go home a little bit fatter, but very satisfied. These markets are very popular, so you must be willing to queue patiently for the choicest items. Unfortunately, patience isn’t always my finest quality.

The train ride home was a sleepy one, we were all a little chilly and tired. But it was a lovely day out with my family when we had the chance to eat, drink and soak in some history and culture. And, of course, continue to get in the Christmas spirit.

Christmas is Coming

I know, I know, it is still only November. But we have started the Christmas shopping, actually it is almost finished. Anyone jealous? There will be no Christmas-time trips to the shopping centre for us. Everyone else can keep that stress for themselves.

But we are not shopping today. We just felt like getting in the seasonal mood, we couldn’t help ourselves. It’s a cold, rainy day and we are getting in the Christmas spirit. It’s not difficult when you have a four and a six-year-old.

So we have listened to Christmas songs, read some of the kids Christmas books and now we are sitting down to watch a Christmas classic. Home Alone, one for all the family. I know there may be other movies which are considered more worthy of the term classic. But it’s time for some popcorn and laughs.

Getting in the Christmas mood means smiling more and feeling good. Being grateful for what you have and giving to others. I don’t care if it’s early, Merry Christmas everyone.
